SDP and HNS Are Incompetent – Sanader

HDZ president Ivo Sanader said opposition parties, particularly the SDP and HNS, were incompetent.

Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) president Ivo Sanader said Saturday night that the party would win in parliamentary elections again, adding that opposition political parties, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Croatian People’s Party (HNS) in particular, were incompetent. 

“When we say they are incompetent, it is not that we hate them, we are merely stating the truth”, Sanader said at a HDZ convention in Benkovac on occasion of the 17^th anniversary of the founding of the HDZ in the town.

He cited the example of the Victor Lenac shipyard that “they declared bankrupt 20 days after they lost in the election, and so threw 5,000 people – workers and sub-contractors, out in the streets”. This government has positively solved the situation in the company and gave people their jobs back, Sanader said.

“The opposition has problems with itself – they say one thing today and another tomorrow and one cannot make heads or tails of them”, he said.

Patriotism is always in fashion, said Sanader. “The Greater Serbian ideology was defeated and if somebody were to try to attack Croatia, they would have the same fate as in 1995. The HDZ was the best solution for Croatia during the war and remained so in peace”, Sanader stressed.

Senior HDZ officials Bozidar Kalmeta, Luka Bebic, Ivan Suker, Gordan Jandrokovic, Zadar County Prefect Ivo Grbic and Benkovac Mayor Branko Kutija also spoke at the convention. Apart from HDZ members in Benkovac, the convention was attended by a large number of people from neighbouring municipalities and towns in Zadar County and other counties. Per reporters’ estimates, there were more than 1,500 people in the hall.
