Text

Even Racan's sister did not visit him, because he needs peace and privacy, and we hope that others will respect his wish, SDP says

In Croatian radio programme 'The Way the Government rules', Prime Minister Ivo Sanader announced his journey to Munich for official reasons, but he also said that he wanted to visit Ivica Racan, if SDP head would accept it.

However, SDP's leaders are not enthusiastic about Ivo Sanader's wish. SDP Acting president Zeljka Antunovic said she has no comment on Prime Minister's wish.

Antunovic: No one has contacted us

No one has contacted us in regards to this issue, and I was a guest in another radio – Antunovic said briefly.

Party's spokeswoman Gordana Grbic was more concrete in commenting Sanader's wish, and she said that no such wish was formally forwarded to the Party.

She added that Racan had from the outset of his illness asked that his privacy be respected and now for health reasons he needs absolute peace for post-operative recovery.

- Suffice it to say that even his sister or friends did not visit him, just to secure him the peace. We hope that others will respect his wish – Gordana Grbic concluded.
