SDP Violated Workers’ Rights

Text

The candidate for premier of the Joint Leftist party, Zlatko Klaric, says it was SDP who violated workers’ rights.

Zlatko Klaric, a Joint Leftist party candidate for prime minister, claims it is the Social Democratic Party (SDP) that committed the greatest crime against Croatian workers while they were in power in 2002, by decreasing their rights and completely deprived them of rights.

With the help of employers they were now accusing, the SDP changed the Labour Law to the detriment of workers, he says, Jutarnji list writes.

“The basic motive of the SDP to issue the list is blackmail of companies that do not want to sponsor their electoral campaign,” Klaric said, describing their conduct as hypocritical and a total failure because it was the SDP that sent police against workers in Sisak.

Three days ago, the social-democrats published a list of some fifty companies allegedly violating the rights of workers. They said the list was drawn up based on telephone calls by disgruntled workers to their free-toll telephone. The workers mostly complained about working overtime, not being paid for overtime, delayed salaries, harsh working conditions and psychological pressure from employers.
