Seks: Into NATO Without Referendum

Text

Vladimir Seks said in last night`s Dnevnik news show of Nova TV that Croatia`s entry into NATO will not be decided by a referendum.

Presidents of government and country, as well as most constitutional-legal experts, believe that, from the constitutional-legal point of view, there is no need for a referendum, said Seks.

He pointed out that new research shows a significant increase of support of Croatia entering NATO, evaluating that Croatia will enter this valuable military alliance before it does in the EU.

Croatian Parliament President Seks stressed that the citizens need not fear of military bases across the Adriatic Sea and sending Croatian soldiers not NATO missions.

By entering into NATO, Croatia will not receive these obligations, but will decide on everything autonomously, in Croatian Parliament, Seks said.

Commenting on the results of Sunday elections in Slavonski Brod, he repeated that the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) will try to find in this city a new architecture of authorities from the remaining lists, that are not in a coalition with the Croatian Party of the Right (HSP)-the Croatian Social-Liberal Party (HSLS)-Croatian Peasant`s Party (HSS).

He dismissed media interpretations that HDZ is loosing support in Slavonia, saying that this is exclusively an impression.

Commenting on the statement of Osijek-Baranja prefect Kresimir Bubalo that the election battle against Seks in the fifth electorate will be an easy task for the Croatian Democratic Parliament of Slavonia and Baranja party (HDSSB) and Branimir Glavas, Vladimir Seks said he had won five times so far at parliamentary elections, and that he would do it the sixth time as well.

He confirmed that he will be the first candidate on HDZ`s list for the fifth electorate, which the party president Ivo Sanader will be the bearer of, as well as of all other HDZ lists.
