Inhabitants of the village of Siroka Luka, 11 kilometres of Gospic, the biggest town in the area of Gospic, on Saturday held commemorative events in memory of 33 villagers, mainly the elderly, women and children, who were killed by Serb rebels on 13 October 1991.
The families of the victims warned that still not any of the perpetrators had been brought to justice, although 21 years passed since the atrocities had been committed.
The youngest victim in this operation of Serb insurgents against local Croats was 13 year old and the oldest was 95. Apart from those 33 victims, also seven Croats from the nearby villages of Licko Osik, Ostrvice and Musaluk were killed then.
