Skare-Ozbolt: I Want to be a Prime Minister

Text

Vesna Skare-Ozbolt, the president of Democratic Centre (DC) announced that her campaign for prime minister starts in February.

I want to be a prime minister and I will get the state in order – said Vesna Skare-Ozbolt commenting on her political goals about forthcoming parliamentary elections.

In the broadcast ‘Vis a vis’ at ‘Plavi radio’, she commented DC work, saying that she will not allow for DC to be a part of some bigger party because its primary goal are reforms.

‘I am a reformer by nature’

-I am a reformer by nature and so is the party I represent. My political understanding is not ambition but result – said Skare-Ozbolt.

She talked openly about the time when she was an advisor for public relations to president Tudjman.

-The president asked me if I would like to be an advisor for public relations. I said that I never did that job, and he answered that he was never a president before – the president of DC shared her memories.

She said that Tudjman liked her because she always talked what she meant, adding that her salary was very good at that time, 17-20,000 kuna.

‘I do not want to say what Tudjman thought about Sanader’

When she was asked what the president’s opinion was about Prime Minister Sanader, she did not want to comment.

-I would not like to say what Tudjman used to say about him. Sanader used to more pleasant to people – she said.

In the conversation, the objection came up on her becoming the ministry of justice in Sanader’s government.

‘Sanader wanted me to be his adherent.’

-I accepted his offer because nobody else did want to take that position, so I did it in order of helping DC and its development. But, the prime minister did not want the DC to be developed, he wanted me to be his adherent – said Skare-Ozbolt.

She concluded that she considers herself as an honest politician and her goal is not assets but transparent doing her job. At the end of the broadcast, she played few notes at the piano and asked all the voters to give their vote to her party.
