Rasi thanked all emergency services in Croatia who exerted great efforts to help Slovaks who were injured in a bus accident on Tuesday.
RIJEKA, CROATIA – Slovak Health Minister Richard Rasi on Monday afternoon visited the Rijeka hospital where a seriously injured Slovak tourist is being treated.
In a statement for the media Rasi thanked all emergency services in Croatia for their efforts after Sunday’s bus accident in which 14 Slovak citizens were killed.
Rasi stated that the medical care provided to the injured in Zagreb, Rijeka and Gospic hospitals was at the highest level in Europe.
Minister Rasi said preparations were underway for transporting those lightly injured back to Slovakia. The decision on their transport or necessary surgical operations in Croatia will be made by Croatian doctors and the Slovak ministry would accept any decision, he said.
A special psychological team was formed in Slovakia to help the families of the victims, he said.
The injured passenger at Rijeka’s hospital is in stable condition. Her spine had been stabilised with surgery, the hospital’s intensive care unit head, Zeljko Zupan, said.
