After Zagreb, Zadar and Rijeka students, Split`s Faculty of Philosophy joined the campaign against commercialisation of education.

SPLIT, CROATIA – Just like students of other Croatian cities, student`s of Split`s Faculty of Philosophy decided to join the protest this morning and demand free education.

Dean Josip Milat handed over the keys to the faculty to the protestors and they will remain in the facilities until their demands are met, which includes the option of spending several days or weeks at the faculty building. Rector of Split University Ivan Pavic also supported the protestors.

We spoke with students who previously agreed to stay anonymous while talking to the media. They say that every student gets by regarding food. Some have their family bring them sandwiches, while others eat at the nearby mess hall.

- We, the students united in the request for charging high education to be cancelled, have taken over the Faculty of Philosophy in Split on April 24, 2009. We take this action as a sign of protest against revoking rights for everyone for available education, regardless of their wealth – the student`s announcement ready.

Furthermore, all students we talked with hope to have the professors` support and active help when it comes to realising their joint goals.
