The construction of the Varazdin hall is an example of excellent collaboration between the local community and the state.
VARAZDIN, CROATIA – The new sports hall, constructed for the necessities of the World Handball Championship which will be held in Croatia, was officially opened on Varazdin Day.
The sports hall was constructed according to the public-private partnership model. Private partner Max Bogl Tehnobeton has invested 193 million kuna ( approximately 26.8 million euros), while the city of Varazdin and the Croatian government will attain some 700 million kuna (approximately 97.2 million euros) in the next 25 years through leasing the object.
- the construction of the Varazdin sports hall is an example of excellent collaboration between the local community and the state. Varazdin has given incentive for the construction, and seeing how the city is not capable of financing this project on its own, the government has jumped to help. When asked if Croatia needs new halls, the answer is sure it does, because they are not only for us, but for the generations to come – said Croatian Finance Minister Ivan Suker.
The Varazdin sports hall is 20,000 squared metres large with two halls: the larger one seats 5,000 people, while the smaller one seats 200 persons. The object also includes accompanying contents like a gym, a bowling alley, sauna and business facilities.
