Text

The National and University Library’s (NSB) new project is study at night for students. The aim is to offer higher quality work for students

The National and University library in Zagreb (NSB) has a new project which will enable easier study and will make the Bologna process easier. This was announced at a press conference held on the premises of the NSB.

- The library will be opened for its users during the working week, from Monday to Friday, 24 hours a day, and will secure 102 places for students – said the director of the NSB, Tihomir Mastrovic.

Students will have access to a skilled employee until midnight, and until then will be able to borrow books that they want. During the whole night student can use the computers and the internet. Night visitors will be able to reserve a place in the library every day, and the only thing necessary is their library card.

The project will start on the 11th April 2007 at 9pm, for a trial period of a month. After that period, problems will be solved as they go along. The students that used the new service will fill out a survey which will contribute to enhancing their conditions.

- As much as this will help students, there remains the problem of space. Two to three thousand students pass through the NSB every day, and 102 places is simply too little for the interested, said Mastrovic. He added that this problem will be partially solved when the land registry moves to a new location, and will gain extra space for another 200 to 300 students.
