Thirty members of the Chinese National Circus are coming to Zagreb on 25th April. They will perform in Drazen Petrovic Hall showing the world famous story about art. The only difference is that they will tell the story using their bodies, testing the rules of gravitation, using the acrobatic tradition of the Far East which is two thousand years old. These artists have got a word “circus” in their name but, as the most prominent Chinese cultural product, they are far from being that. It is the biggest acrobatic show in the world and the citizens of Croatia will have a chance to see it for the second time.
The Chinese National Circus consists of the artists who have been chosen as three-years-old children to become so unbelievably flexible. They achieve that through many years of training and hard work. Their juggling skills and their acrobatic performances leave all the spectators without breath. These unique artists travel all over the world and show their music, costumes, scenery and skills of performance using their bodies. Their shows are always related to an important Chinese historical event or historical person.
In Zagreb they will tell the story about the Silk Route. The organizers say that the performance lasts for 75 minutes and that the audience will be thrilled by their skills.
There are young boys and girls whose acrobatic career is unfortunately limited by the age. But there are also children performing and they represent the real miracles of nature. Some of them will even “pack” their bodies into the boxes that are about 30 cm big.
This kind of performance has a long tradition in the Chinese culture. It flourished in the period of Han dynasty. The artists held the performances called “Hundred tricks” all over China entertaining people with acrobatic skills using flexibility and endurance of their bodies.
The magic of their performance is acceptable for people of all ages so it can be the whole family evening out, as the organizers claim. The tickets cost 170 HRK for ordinary seats and 260 for VIP sector.
