After the ‘’Watergate’’ affair whose outcome was (so far) five criminal charges against the highly positioned employees of the Water supply for the damage of 7,6 million HRK, the first dismissal under the urgent procedure happened.
Was Cupic dismissed because of the affair? Or is it connected with the results of the internal control of the branch in which the scam with the water pipe connectors goes beyond the police charges?- we’ve asked Dusan Viro, Holding’s spokesmen.
- It is correct that he has been dismissed, but it is about a regular procedure based on the Labour law and internal regulations which has nothing to do with the investigation. What we are dealing with here is a normal dismissing of staff. Miljenko Cupic has been transferred into the city’s Čistoća branch office – pointed out Viro.
Kristijan Ilcic, the former head of the development service in the water supply has been set up onto the position of Cupic. As we found out from the branch office, he is a person with no scandals in his background. Amongst the employees he is known as one of those people with not one spot in their career. So far this has been the only dismissal since the water pipe connectors’ scandal within the Water supply, but the possibility of more scandals is not excluded.
The police investigation continues due to the results of the internal investigation. It was found out that the illegal payments for the communal connectors lasted from 2005 and 2006 with 3000 citizens and companies participating. The police have found 963 illegal connectors by now.
