The 18-year-old Domagoj D., who suffered from epilepsy, was given Voltaren injections as a treatment for sore eyes and throat.
Krizevac emergency doctor is under investigation by the Krizevac Municipal State Attorney on suspicion that she unconscientiously treated a boy, who then suffered a toxic epidermal necrosis, Jutanji list writes.
Namely, the doctor used Voltaren injections to treat Domagoj’s sore eyes and throat, instead of using drops and syrups. The 18-year old, who as a boy suffered from epilepsy, got a strong rash after half an hour. However, doctor allegedly gave him the same medicine after Domagoj’s parents asked her to do a home visitation.
The next day, Domagoj ended up in Koprivnica General Hospital and he was then transferred to Zagreb. He had a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius for weeks, his nails fell out and he needed several operations because of multiple organs failures. In two or three months that he was sick, the young man had lost his sight and dropped 26 kilograms.
His parents claim that they made it clear that their son was suffering from epilepsy. Doubt of the unconscientiously administered treatment was further initiated by the fact that doctors lost a part of the young’s man medical documentation.
- Although she knew that the minor takes the epilepsy medication and that combination of the used drugs may deteriorate his health, he was given a shot at the Medical Center and then another one at his home - the Municipal State Attorney in Krizevac says.
