There Will Be No Sanctions If Bloc Is Lifted

Text

Miljenko Jurkovic has reached the decision that no sanctions would be imposed if the bloc is lifted until May 22.

ZAGREB, CROATIA – Dean of the Faculty of Zagreb Miljenko Jurkovic has reached the decision according to which no sanctions would be imposed which regard the ethical and disciplinary responsibility of students, based of the Code of Ethics and the Rules on students` disciplinary responsibility, if they immediately lift the faculty bloc until May 22 at the latest.

STUDENT PROTESTS

Students of the Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy and Rijeka`s Applied Arts Academy are those only ones blocking lectures from taking place at their faculties. Several days ago, students of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar unblocked their faculty with the mediation of the Croatian Helsinki Committee, but pointed out that this was just temporary.

Dean Jurkovic announced his decision regarding the bloc, which was posted on the Slobodni Filozofski blog, as presented to the representatives of the Student Body at a meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the decision, in accordance with the decision of the Faculty Council, the summer exam periods will start after the lectures end, on June 26 at the latest, except in cases when an exam is part of the lecture. Professors can hold pre-exams as well.
