Due to better weather conditions, three helicopters joined in the search for the missing pilots in Velebit mountain.
The search for the missing pilots on Velebit continued this morning, on the north side of the mountain, because it is believe that the Cessna did not fly over the Vaganski peak.
Around 200 people have joined the search this morning, members of the Croatian mountain rescue service (HGSS), 20 members of a special Croatian Army unit, 50 or so members of Zadar’s police department and special units from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Due to slightly better weather conditions, three helicopters joined in the search.
Last night contact was made with Stipe Bozic and the alpinists that are searching for the missing pilots, after they lost contact with the main command centre last night, because there was no mobile phone signal in the area.
Even though the region of Velebit that is being searched is known to the members of the GSS that are on the field, the poor weather conditions are making the search harder and slower, but the teams are well equipped and ready to continue the search for days if needed.
