Bara Brhanic (73) from Ribnica near Velika Gorica, put 7 one day old puppies in a bag and left them in her backyard intending to bury them there. The helpless puppies whined and their desperate call was heard by the neighbours who called the veterinary inspector.
The old lady told the inspector that she wanted to get rid of the puppies because she could not feed them. But according to the law on animal rights, it is the duty of the owner to control the breeding of their pets. Bara is faced with an infringement from the veterinary inspection, and the society for the protection of animals, for trying to kill the puppies and cruelty to animals.
A higher veterinary inspector ordered the orderly vet from a Veterinary station to pick up the puppies and put them up for adoption.
