Through Gotovina to Judge

Text

The candidates for the Constitutional Court were estimated on their expertise and impression. Their opinion on the Gotovina case prevailed.

Prof. Davor Krapac from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb, and Boris Koketi from the Ministry of Justice became candidates for judges of the Constitutional Court, according to a decision of the parlliament Constitution Committee.

The main criterion for Florijan Boras of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) was a question whether international war crimes suspect general Ante Gotovina was innocent or guilty. That was one of the eight questions, which were raised to the candidates by Slaven Letica.

Boras disqualified each candidate who answered ‘I have no answer’, or ‘guilty’. He claims that according to the Constitution, everybody is innocent until proven guilty and validity sentenced.

Apart from questions, the decisions were made based on expertise and personal impression. Koketi and Krapac were the best in both.
