Tudjman Should Have Stripped Mesic of His Medals

property worth two billion euros. How would you find out? – General Zagorec’s attorney, Zvonimir Hodak, told the Hit network, commenting on the court’s verdict passed on Vladimir Zagorec who was sentenced to seven years in prison and the seizure of 39.4 billion kuna worth of property. 

Hodak also commented on President Mesic’s statements that Zagorec’s would be immediately stripped of his medals, without even waiting for the verdict to be final.

‘This is just the beginning’

- Mesic will not strip Zagorec of his medals, he can forget that. The only he can do is come and personally take the medals. Otherwise, he can only make them null. But mesic should have been stripped of his medals when he secretly testified against Croatian generals in The Hague. At the time, President Tudjman should have stripped him of his medals, but he didn’t and that was his big mistake – Hodak said.

Hodak commented Mesic’s statement that Zagorec was a “fattened little mouse” by saying that “the president should look around and see how many mice he is fattening up, all those who once worked for UDBA (the former Yugoslav secret service) are now his advisors.

In the end Zagorec’s attorney announced that this is just the beginning, that things would change by the time the verdict becomes finalised.
