Vlahusic suspended Zupan Ruskovic because of young tourists

Text

The Mayor of Dubrovnik Andro Vlahusic suspended Pave Zupan Ruskovic on Thursday after she had talked about the young tourists from Australia and New Zealand. After Vlahusic met a former minister of tourism and the president of Destination management in the Tourist Board of Dubrovnik, he suggested that her engagement, which lasted till the end of 2011, wouldn’t be prolonged.

- The city of Dubrovnik is an open and free city where everyone is welcome. The common aim of all of us who work for the city tourism is to gain as the best quality as we can. It can be a guarantee of security and a pleasant stay of visitors no matter of their origin or age. The personal attitudes of Pave Zupan Ruskovic which she stated when presenting the work of Destination management involved the comments about some groups of tourists calling them unwanted. These were not appropriate and the rest of engagement was reckoned as not productive. So the contract won’t be prolonged after the 1st January. -  Vlahusic pointed out.

In fact, the president of Destination management Pave Zupan Ruskovic warned about the behavior of young tourists from Australia and New Zealand who visited Dubrovnik last summer. “She said that it would have been better if they hadn’t come at all”, as Dubrovacki list published.

- We have tried to affect the organizers of these package tours to do something because the young tourists are already drunk and crazy when they come to town. It is completely unacceptable for every city, especially for Dubrovnik – the former minister of tourism, who was appointed in the government of Ivica Racan, said.
