Teaching boycott and a peaceful protest is the reaction of the First secondary school pupils in Vukovar, who are protesting because nothing was done when a pupil of Serb nationality verbally insulted and then attacked a three years younger pupil of Croatian nationality.

The incident occurred in the school yard on December 21, last year, and the pupil has still not been disciplined.

Pupil brought alcohol into the school

-This pupil brought alcohol into the school and in an intoxicated state assaulted a pupil- said representative of dissatisfied pupils, Kristina Karaula, adding the school Statute foresees exclusion from class for such an act.

The Student Council, namely, proposed the pupil to be punished, but the headmaster and the teachers could not react.

-They tell us not to stir things up, while they want to sweep the problem under the rug. We just want the school to react- said Kristina Karaula.

Cursing in the corridors

She pointed out that pupils of the two nationalities go to school together, but claims not everything functions well, because mutual name-calling and cursing is usual in he corridors.

Head-master Josip Rac considers all measures linked with the incident were taken, the police carried out an inquiry and the case is in court, writes the Glas Slavonije.

-The incident occurred outside school premises, which means we are not responsible here- said Rac.
