On the Canada-USA border crossing, computer data showed that Pavic was wanted by Interpol for war crimes.

Truck driver Goran Pavic was arrested on the border crossing between Canada and the USA, near Detroit, on the basis of an Interpol APB, for war crimes committed in Croatia, said Canadian and US media on Saturday. This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Croatian police Krunoslav Borovec for Hina.

Pavic (42) was driving a truck from Canada into the USA on Wednesday, over the Ambassadorial Bridge, which connects the Canadian Windsor with Detroit, where the custom officials and border officials (CBP) directed him to a nearby freight terminal.

The authorities have not released where Pavic is currently located.

The Croatian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) was contacted via Interpol, and it was confirmed that this is the same person that is being investigated for war crimes on Croatian civilians.

After speaking with the US state attorney and immigration services, Pavic was arrested on Friday, and handed over to the customs and border services, with which the procedure of extradition to Croatia was started, reports Detroit Free Press and AP.
