Which Jadranka Is Not Being True?

Text

Kosor and Cigelj have been filling newspapers with accusations of giving SOA orders to check non-governmental associations.

After a few days of affrayment amongst themselves who did actually order the Security and Intelligence Agency (SOA) to check non-governmental citizen associations, the whole story began to complicate, and an epilogue will be seen, it appears, in court.

Government documents

Namely, the vice-premier Jadranka Kosor forwarded a copy of a memo to the media in which it is stated that Jadranka Cigelj, head of the Association Department, asked for a check up of the Civil Society Developments Committee candidates on the 17th of November last year. Thus, vice-premier Kosor disputed the former director Cigelj who came out in the public with information how Jadranka Kosor requested the SOA check up at Christmas time.

But, Cigelj responded to the government accusations. She, namely, hired attorney Silvije Degen to represent her in the case with the government, against which Cigelj decided to file a law-suit. The problem is, however, as Degen told us in an interview, that his client has no paper evidence the vice-premier really did order the illegal check.

-But, there are witnesses of the conversation which will confirm my client`s statements, that being: Jadranka Kosor ordered the check - said Degen.

Cigelj superseded due to poor work

The struggle will further complicate the fact Prime Minister Ivo Sanader firmly stood behind his vice-premierKosor, saying this case was closed.

-There is no more discussion of those decisions. Decision on the supersedement of Jadranka Cigelj was brought on the grounds of her work in total because the Associations Department was not functioning well- said Sanader.

Her deputy Andjelka Kovacic also turned against Cigelj yesterday, who forwarded a memo to the media saying the government vice-president never requested the security check of the Commission members.
