Whom To, If Not Your Own?!

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration most employees found work through a connection.

A large number of Ministry employees are linked with prominent representatives of the political life through family or other connections.

For instance, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs President Stjepan Mesic`s daughter is employed, wife of Social-Democratic Party President Ivica Racan, wife of Security Intelligence Agency (SOA) director Tomislav Karamako, wife of Minister Dragan Primorac and many others.

Employed wives and daughters

An unmistakable example of nepotism is State Secretary Hidajet Biscevic`s wife, Ozana Biscevic who two moths upon graduating, without a tender, found employment at the Ministry of European Integration.

The wife of Minister Dragan Primorac, through the victory of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on the elections, from an anonymous diplomat became the advisor of the previous Minister Miomir Zuzul.

The case of Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic is interesting as well, who, next to so many young experts in Croatia, hired Canadian official from Ottawa, where she once had been employed.

Apart from important acquaintances, the main reference for employment with the MFAEI is for a family member to already be in the Ministers` system, the Glas Slavonije researches.
