Thanks to 360000 HRK worth grant from the Dutch Government, the Association of winegrowers, vintners and fruit growers organized a seminar '' The approach to a wine rating'' run by the prominent Croatian enologist and the professor dr Dubravka Premuzic.
- It is very important that a vintner knows not only to produce wine but to rate his own wine. ''Wine is too precious beverage just to be purred down the throat. You have to sense this richness of taste. First we got to know various acids found in aqueous solution that are mixed in wine. The attendants of the seminar didn't have chance to try those separately before. We showed them how to sort acids and tannins and tannins and sweetness and how ingredients effect each other - explained dr Premuzic.
The attendants tested their threshold of sensibility for recognizing different wine flavors . Ferdinand Novak, the president of the Association was very pleased by the large interest of members for such seminar, and he was satisfied with information provided for the members because wine presentation is getting more and more important nowadays.
- This is unique chance to learn something important for market existence. And yet we have learnt from the greatest expert - Novak said.
