The lack of money for maintenance brought us to the present situation. This is what the people from Zagreb Fair say about the bad situation of the institution which was once the symbol of the city but where the pavilions and surrounding areas decay and which produces losses.
40 years old installations
- At the moment our aim is to survive and to try to build international competitiveness. So we proposed to our owner Zagreb Holding and the City of Zagreb to build the new exhibition area which would be optimized to the smaller but more modern fair, congress and business centre – the people from this branch of Zagreb Holding reveal their plans. They explain that they have proposed the construction of a new multifunctional pavilion, the reconstruction of the present ones and decreasing the exhibition area.
In fact, the Zagreb Fair stretches in the area of 550 thousand of square meters and 150 thousand of square meters indoors. The infrastructure and the installations are 40 or more years old. Nothing can be constructed without the permissions of the whole range of institutions because it is treated as the cultural heritage.
- Zagreb Fair gave the initiative and we got the support from the institutions – they reply from the firm where the three pavilions are completely out of order.
10 mil revenue
In those pavilions that still work the fairs are being held, but there is no profit. The annual revenue from the events (not including Auto Show event) is about 10 mil HRK and the costs are only several mil less than that.
