Even though Bandić handed out loads of buses across Croatia, he doesn't feel a bit bad about borrowing them all the way from Ankara
Zagreb mayor Milan Bandić eventually decided today, during the reception of the Ankara mayor Melih Goekçek in the Dverce pallace to disclose few words more on his presidential candidacy, saying among other things - he always knew to pick the right timing, so he'll do the same thing now, - and moreover, - things are getting just fine. -
Bandić sticked to the verified rhetoric figures, repeating once more that his presidential candidature doesn't depend on him. According to his opinion it partly depends on the media representatives, but also even more on the Croatian citizens than the ones living outside the Croatian borders.
Questioned about whether he'll attend the SDP presidium session and whether this will probably be his last involvment in the SDP presidium session, Bandić responded negatively, for he's momentarily busy with Melih Goekçek's visit. - SDP presidium will have to meet this time without me, but nevertheless I'll be informed on the session conclusions and eventually on the possible actions - told Bandić to the gathered people.
Ankara mayor will borrow buses to Bandić
Melih Goekçek, mayor of the Ankara city, who came to Croatian capital in a three-day visit, told he heard the latest news covered by the international media. He stressed out he believes this will be Bandić's last year in the position of Zagreb mayor given he'll become the newly elected Croatian president.
Goekçek demonstrated his generosity, saying he's - ready to assure the full support - to Bandić and that it's not unusual practice that the mayors are aiming high. Among other things he mentioned the case that took place in Turkey, when the mayor of Istanbul became newly elected prime minister. In the same manner he wants to see Bandić in Pantovčak.
He offered to mayor Bandić to borrow him three buses for his own presidential campaign which was the moment that many media representatives seized to enter the discussion stressing out the fact that mayor already handed out loads of buses to various Croatian counties, which also earned him loads of criticisms over the madly spent municipal money.
Questioned about whether the same situation could ever occur in Ankara, Goekçek responded that those were privately leased buses. Questioned about whether this is all about a friendly gift of one mayor to another Goekçek responded that if desired, this could be understood as such a practice.
