Croatian Unemployment Rate Goes Up 2.8 Percent

The number of the unemployed has gone up by 6,284 persons in relation to September.

At the end of October, there were 228,501 unemployed persons registered at the Croatian Employment Service institute, which is 2.8 percent less (6,284 persons more) than the previous month and 8.6 percent (or 21,586 persons) less than in the same month in 2007.

During October, unemployment rate entries (23,987 persons) were greater than unemployment exits (17,703 persons), mostly due to the end of the tourist season and the return of seasonal labourers in the unemployment registry, the Croatian Employment Service announced on Friday.

There were 23,987 reported persons in the registry for October, which is 16.9 percent more than the previous month, and 3.7 percent less than in the same month last year.
