Text
Unionists believe that IMF`s possible measures and behaviour is predictable and largely inacceptable.
Independent Croatian Unions did not expect Croatian President Stjepan Mesic to call the IMF for help, thus they forwarded a letter to him.
The unionists believe that that IMF`s possible measures and behaviour is predictable and largely inacceptable. According to them, statements of certain esteemed Croatian economists who also support the negotiations are concerning, just like introducing the IMF to Croatia.
- Thus, they actually send out messages about themselves which they don`t mean to send out – that the crisis has surpassed the level of their expertise and ability, therefore, Croatia needs help – the Union writes to the Croatian president.
The average Croatian citizen rightfully wonders, the Union continues, why have not the authorities fought for a strategy for the country`s economic development with more power and will.
- Instead, Croatia has slid away into conceptless economic liberalism, consequences of which we are now reaping. Even more intensified because of the world crisis – the letter reads.
Many citizens criticise the unions that they would not accept frozen salaries of the public sector, however, the unionists believe they were only doing their job and performing obligations towards their members.
