Sony Corp company noted in the third quarter a drop of operative profit of 14.9 percent due to slow sale of game consoles.
In the period of October-December 2006, Sony operative profit reached 1,5 billion dollars, while in the same period of the previous year the company`s operative profit amounted to 1,73 billion dollars. The sales rose up by 9.8 percent to 21,5 billion dollars, while the profit dropped by 5.3 percent to 1,3 billion dollars.
Slow sales of the new PlayStation – PS3
Attainments in these sectors were cancelled with powerful loses in the game production unit caused by a slow beginning of the new PlayStation – PS3 sales. Sony increased the prognosis on the operative profit for which it expects to amount to 493,2 million dollars in stead of 411 by the end of the financial year, the Bankamagazin writes.
