EU To Finance Sanitation of Drainage in Slavonia

The European Union has earmarked from the CARDS programme EUR3,150,000 for Vukovar-Srijem County.

The EU funds will be invested into the reconstruction of facilities for flood protection in Croatia’s eastern Vukovar-Srijem County. Thanks to the resources, the great floods of 2005 will be prevented from happening again. More than 220 kilometres of drainage channels will be cleared. 

One of the first CARDS programme projects

A total of 160 drainage systems will be cleared and sanitised. The project of sanitising the drainage network is one of the first projects of the European Union’s CARDS programme in Vukovar-Srijem County. The project will last until the beginning of this December, the Croatian Radio and Television web-site says.
