The Croatian government and the European Commission signed an agreement on the financing for the National PHARE Programme for 2006.

The agreement is worth 61 million euros and is intended for the realisation of 20 projects in Croatia, which should assist the country in preparations for membership in the European Union, Poslovni dnevnik writes Friday.

Goal: to prepare Croatia for the full application of the EU Acquis Commauntaire

Croatia will co-finance the projects with 25 percent of funds and a total of 80 million euros will be set aside for projects of state administration bodies whose goal is to prepare Croatia for the full application of the EU’s acquis commauntaire and the usage of structures even after accession.

The projects were approved by the PHARE Committee in May 2006, at the suggestion of the National Programme for Croatia. The agreement was signed on Thursday by the national coordinator for assistance programmes and cooperation with the EU, Martina Dalic, and the head of the European Commission delegation, Vincent Degert.
