German Economy Minister Michael Glos will probably not remain in the government cabinet much longer, despite having a resignation request turned down, government sources said on Sunday. [ID:nL8658752]

Following are five facts about Glos:

* He is a member of the Christian Social Union (CSU), the Bavarian sister party of Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU), and has been a member of the Bundestag lower house of parliament since 1976.

* Himself a former miller, he owns a flour mill and a farm.

* He did not expect to be made economy minister following the 2005 federal election and joked after taking the job that before he was appointed he hadn't even known where the Economy Ministry was.

* He is married with two children.

* He took a long trip to Asia when the financial crisis broke out and has been widely criticised for his low profile during the economic turmoil. (
