NEW YORK, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Gold prices were little changed in New York Wednesday, as equity markets spent most of the day in negative territory, then closed higher.
On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold gained $20 to reach $1,723 per troy ounce. Silver added 29 cents to hit $33.41 per ounce.
The euro fell to $1.31 from Wednesday's $1.3106. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 77.43 yen from Tuesday's 77.78 yen.
The British pound rose to $1.5689 from $1.5658. Against the Hong Kong dollar, the greenback was lower at 7.7566 from 7.7597.
The dollar fell to 1.0019 Canadian dollars from 1.0046. The Australian dollar rose to $1.0639 from $1.0597.
