Grains mostly lower Tuesday

CHICAGO, March 27 (UPI) -- Oat prices rose, but corn, soybeans and wheat futures fell with the dollar index up 0.25 percent Tuesday.

Corn was off 2 to off 7, soybeans were off 3 1/2 to off 9 3/4, wheat was off 14 1/2 to off 19 3/4 and oats were up 4 1/2 to up 7 1//4.

Corn prices fell with traders shifting position in advance of Friday's supply and demand report. The wheat market continues to show signs of being overbought, as a weekly U.S. Department of Agriculture report pegged 59 percent of Kansas winter wheat good to excellent, a slight increase from the previous week. Soybean futures fell as a record net long position sparked liquidation selling in advance of Friday's report.

Corn: May 6.30 3/4 off 7, Jly 6.30 3/4 off 5 1/4, Sep 5.74 1/2 off 2, Dec 5.50 1/4 off 3.

Soybeans: May 13.69 3/4 off 9 3/4, Jly 13.26 1/4 off 8, Aug 13.67 1/2 off 5 1/2, Sep 13.46 off 3 1/2.

Wheat: May 6.39 3/4 off 19 3/4, Jly 6.52 3/4 off 17 1/2, Sep 6.69 1/2 off 15 1/2, Dec 6.90 off 14 1/2.

Oats: May 3.40 up 7 1/4, Jly 3.33 3/4 up 6 3/4, Sep 3.32 3/4 up 4 1/2, Dec 3.40 up 4 3/4.
