Hungary To Tap Strategic Gas Reserves On Thursday

Text

Molnar said the government plans to use about one third of the amount of strategic reserves which can be pumped into the system in a day.

Hungary plans to use some of its strategic gas reserves on Thursday to ensure supplies to households and most industrial users as it is still not getting any Russian gas via Ukraine, Energy Minister Csaba Molnar said.

Molnar said the government plans to use about one third of the amount of strategic reserves which can be pumped into the system in a day.

The government earlier said that about 3.6 million cubic metres of gas per day can be pumped into the network from the strategic reserves and about 52 million a day from commercial reserves.

Molnar added that Hungary expected to receive 4 million cubic metres of natural gas via Austria, partly due to E.ON-Ruhrgas' offer to supply gas to Hungary.
