The suspension of Russian oil via Belarus will not have a negative impact on Croatia’s import of oil.

Although Croatia’s pipeline Janaf through Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine is connected to the Russian Druzhba pipeline, the suspension of oil via the Belarus territory will not have a negative impact on Croatia’s import.

The Rest of the oil is transported by sea

Croatia imports only ten percent of its total oil capacities via the Druzhba pipeline, and the rest is imported by sea by tankers that deliver the oil to the northern Adriatic port of Omisalj. The oil from the pipeline can only be transported to Sisak in Croatia because a bilateral pipeline has not been constructed towards Rijeka and Omisalj.

Croatia’s interest is a bilateral pipeline

The construction of a bilateral pipeline along the Janaf route was the reason for Croatia’s interest in the Druzhba-Adria project so that the import of Russian oil via this pipeline could increase significantly, the Poslovni dnevnik news site writes Tuesday.
