As a commonly elected representative of the French electorate, Jean Sarkozy pursues with his candidacy for the head of Epad
- I am an elected representative as the others -, reminded on Tuesday evening the son of the Head of State, who pursues with his candidacy as the head of the Public Body for the development of La Défense. On Tuesday, the president regretted that his son has been thrown as to "feed the sharks".
Questioned on France 3 TV if he knows anything about going all the way to the end, in spite of the debate, the son of the Head of State, who is also a councillor of the Hauts-de-Seine for two years, answered "naturally". - I have never been appointed. Since the very beginning of my political route . I pulled out here my legitimacy towards the election as well as the universal suffrage. -
- I am an elected representative as the others, regardless of the name that I carry, regardless of my age, regardless of my activities -, he asserted. - Attacks and criticisms are a part of the political game. I do not want to complain, I want to act -, explained the councillor by refuting the favouritism charges.
- Do you think that I turned thumbs for two years? For two years, I work 12 hours a day, I consult offices, I am covering the full perspective at the same time , bottom to the ground -, he said, quoting in example his work within the transport committee. – Based exclusively on my actions and my working background I shall ask to be judged and I shall bear in mind what I have already realized, if people rely on me to take over the management of the Defence presidency, - he concluded.
On Tuesday, in front of the growing controversy aiming at his son, the Head of State rose to the crenel. - All unfounded info feed given in person, launched in a excessive manner, it never results in any good, - stated Nicolas Sarkozy, at the conclusion of his speech on the education on the Élysée.
- Yesterday, you were fascinated by what debate? The one of Frédéric Mitterrand. Very well, that’s healthy, you follow the debates, sometimes you precede them while I have to follow the reforms and resolve the ongoing issues -, he launched to the journalists. Fundamentally, the siblings of Sarkozy answered charges of "nepotism", by deducing that the young man that he is, 23-year-old, – enjoys fewer rights given the fact he is the younger son of the Head of State. -
Even Prime Minister, François Fillon, intervened on Tuesday morning, by assuring on RTL France that the young man was completely justifiable, in his eyes, to assume such a function. - It is an election, it is a competition, and clearly do not want to rise a polemic out of it. -
- He’s a politician as many others, it’s not because he’s the son of the president of the Republic, - also reacted the special adviser of the president, Henri Guaino. The Government Spokesman Luc Chatel said himself he was "quite shocked" by this debate, evoking even "a manhunt". The president of the Medef, Laurence Parisot, agreed on feeling "stunned" by the debate. - I find it formidable that such a young person, could embody such an ambition of managing a public institution of this sort, - she declared during a press conference.
The Secretary of State for Housing and the town planning, Benoist Apparu defended early in the afternoon the son of the Head of State at the Assembly, harbouring him from the boos and whoos of the socialist members of parliament. Jean Sarkozy has "a double legitimacy". - He was elected in the universal suffrage and by his peers to the General Council of the Hauts-de-Seine. (...) Then consider people based on their actions, and not by the place of their birth, - explains he, in his response to a question of the deputy of the Socialists Michèle Delaunay.
The political shootout at this point irrevocably reached its peak. It even started on gaining space in the rows of the parliamentary majority. This surrealist scene Tuesday noon at the Assembly, during the weekly meeting of the group UMP shows it: the members of parliament Pierre Cardo (Yvelines) and René Couanau (La Manche) violently criticized the affair Jean Sarkozy.
Extracts. - In the first ballot, we have already attacked the carbon tax and the businesses of some government members, and now, for the second ballot, we have the affair Epad! - declared the first one under a thunder of applause. - We listen lately the parents the children’s parents whose siblings do not even possess necessary training courses -, the second outbid. Before adding: - This would be the problem of human resources department in the Hauts-de-Seine! -
From his part, the socialist Party deeply regrets the - New translation of a monarchic conception of the power, - and request Nicolas Sarkozy and the UMP - to abandon this disastrous project which already made of France the laughing stock of the democracies. - The first secretary of the PS, Martine Aubry, denounces - The pursuit of the UMP handling of the whole Ile-de-France region -. – We’ve to handle the powers one after the another: the justice, the media, and today the local authorities. -
