WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- San Francisco company Lee Carter is recalling about 25,000 infant rattles that pose a choking hazard, regulators said.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said infant rattles distributed by Lee Carter Co. have handles small enough to fit into a child's throat, posing a choking hazard.
The recalled rattles were imported from Mexico and sold at Mexican specialty craft stores nationwide from February 2001 through October 2011 for about $4.
They are made out of multicolored, woven plastic and have a bell inside.
"Lee Carter Company" is printed on a tag on a purple plastic loop at the end of the rattle's handle.
Consumers were advised to take the recalled rattles away from infants and return them to Lee Carter Co. for a full refund or credit towards a replacement product.
Consumers can call 415-824-2004 for information.
