The Jadranski naftofod pipeline is planning to close a section of the pipeline over Krk Bridge and set up a new one under the sea by 2010.
The new under-sea pipeline would be set up at the narrowest part of the channel between Krk Island and land, Janaf experts said today at the presentation of the latest issue of the EGE energy supply magazine issued by the Energetika Marketing company. The new part of Janaf’s route will be five kilometres long, of which 730 metres will be under the sea and the old part will be preserved as a reserve.
Apart from other benefits, the safety of the pipeline and bridge will be boosted
Apart from other benefits, this would boost the security of both the pipeline and the Krk Bridge, Janaf experts stressed. This will enable a reversible transport of oil on the section from Sisak to Omisalj, which will make it possible for Russian oil to get to the Ina refinery in Rijeka by Janaf, Vjesnik writes.
Agreement worth 95 million kuna signed with Siemens
The company is also preparing reversible transport on the Sisak-Novi Sad section, which will facilitate the potential implementation of the PEOP project of construction of a large pipeline from the Caspian region through Croatia to Trieste, by which large amounts of oil would be transported westward. They have signed a 95-million-kuna-worth deal with Siemens on the modernisation of the control and management system that should be completed by September 2008.
