Sanader Is Leaving Us In Check-Mate Position

Only when we become aware of the gravity of the crisis we are in will we be able to start recovery, head of the Chamber of Commerce said.

President of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Nadan Vidosevic, issued a press statement in which he said he was not satisfied with Prime Minister Ivo Sanader’s move who resigned as prime minister in the difficult times the country is in. 

I am surprised and not happy over the decision of Prime Minister Sanader which he made at a time when we are all worried about the economic crisis Croatia is in.

- I am surprised and not happy over the decision of Prime Minister Sanader which he made at a time when we are all worried about the economic crisis Croatia is in. I think that the prime minister should have initiated a wider national action and should have called for a consensus on overcoming the crisis – Vidosevic wrote.

- This check-mate position in which the country has found itself demands national interests to be put above individual fates and everything else is irresponsible – Nadan Vidosevic commented.

Desperate move 

Vidosevic expects of Sanader’s successor, Jadranka Kosor, to form a national front that would make it possible for the country to overcome the crisis.

- The people should be presented as clearly as possible that there is no domestic demand on which we grew for years and that, with the 42 billion euros of foreign debt and all gains from privatisation we have not been able to reach the level of industrial production from before the war. Only when we are all aware of the depth of the crisis we are in will we be able to start the recovery process – Vidosevic said.

The days to come will crystallise the situation and this move by the now former prime minister of Croatia will be able to be assessed with regards to what it brings to Croatia and all its citizens.
