Trade unions and pensioners on the streets

Text

Six trade unions called the pensioners of the public and the private sector to come down to the streets almost everywhere in France

Six trade unions called the pensioners of the public and the private sector to come down to the streets almost everywhere in France to defend their purchasing power and demand an appreciation of their pensions, an initiative organized every year at the same time by labour unions. About 70 demonstrations and gatherings are planned to the appeal of pensioners' federations CGT, CFDT, CGC, UNSA, as well as of the FSU and the general Federation of the pensioners of the Public service ( FGR-FP), according to a discount made by CGT.

In Paris, the demonstrators will gather early in the afternoon near the Holy subway François-Xavier, then will scroll from 2:30 pm up to the Esplanade of the Disabled persons close to the State Secretariat of the elder brothers. In October, 2008, the Parisian procession had gathered between 2.100 and 10.000 persons according to sources.

In a common statement, labour unions - assert that the pensioners, as well as the employees, do not have to undergo the consequences of a crisis for which they not take the responsibility. - Labour unions demand the preservation of the purchasing power of the pensioners - widely affected by rises in prices registered in 2008 and the abolition of the appreciation of the pensions during the 1st quarter 2009. -

CGT specifies on its part that it demands - 200 euro for all and all at once, in making up of the loss of the standard of living -, - the indexation of the pensions on the evolution of the average wage -, or still pensions which are not lower than the GMW than the labour union claims in 1.600 euro.
