US House To Consider Stimulus Bill Next Week

`Next week we will bring it to the floor,` Nancy Pelosi told reporters.

The U.S. House of Representatives will consider next week the $825 billion economic stimulus package sought by President Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday.

"Next week we will bring it to the floor," she told reporters as several committees worked on tax and other provisions in the legislation that is designed to pull the country out of a yearlong recession.

Obama plans to meet with House and Senate leaders on Friday to discuss the stimulus package and other issues, she said.

Another goal she said was to pass legislation for bankruptcy reform to address faulty mortgages as home foreclosures have soared, adding that she was open to attaching it to the stimulus measure or pursuing other options.
