US Judge Approves Lehman, Barclays Pact

A U.S. bankruptcy judge approved British bank Barclays Plc's deal to purchase the core U.S. business of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc

In making the decision, U.S. bankruptcy Judge James Peck told a packed Manhattan court room on Saturday that he found no better alternative for the Lehman assets.

"I have to approve this transaction because it is the only available transaction," Peck said.
