Mobile operator Vipnet recorded 12.5% higher income last year and 12.9 % of more profit.
Vipnet income, under the Mobikom Austria ownership, amounted to 474.8 million euro last year, while profit before taxation, interests, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose from 168.7 to 190.5 million euro, the bankamagazine.hr writes.
1.91 million users
At the end of 2006, Vipnet had 1.91 million users, 18.6 % more than a year earlier, while the average monthly profit per user (ARPU) in last year`s final quarter was 15.7 euro.
Out of the total number of users, 329,600 established subscriptions, which is 30.6 % more than at the end of 2005. Vipnet`s share on the home market dropped from 44.1% to 43.9% in one year. Vipnet`s income in the final quarter was increased thanks to increase of profit from telephone business, but from equipment sales as well.
New mobile access to Internet
Increase of income from business in a consequence of a larger number of users, which compensated for the decrease of income due to price drop and the fewer average number of minutes per user.
Incidentally, Vipnet, as the first mobile operator in Europe, presented mobile access to Internet via HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) network on Monday, enabling Internet access with the sped of up to 7.2 Mbit/s.
