If you are among those who cannot quit smoking no matter how much you try, you may be able to solve your problem by a vaccine that will soon be sold in the U.S. The vaccine was developed by GlaxoSmithKline Company in collaboration with Nabi Pharmaceuticals.
The vaccine called NicVAX prevents nicotine from reaching the brain. Nicotine from cigarette smoke is the primary substance that creates a feeling of satisfaction and dependence on smoking.
According to some studies, people who used the vaccine are twice less likely to return to smoking than those who did not.
The market is currently overwhelmed with a multitude of different resources for quitting smoking, but their effectiveness is still relatively weak. According to U.S. statistics, as much as 90 percent of smokers who quit smoking pick it back up within a year.
NicVAX works by producing antibodies that bind themselves to the nicotine molecules and prevent them from reaching the brain.
