Baby came into the world at an altitude of 600 meters, while the plane was preparing to land, the airline says.
The boy born in the aircraft owned by the Malaysian airline, Air Asie, will get a lifetime of free flights.
Passenger Liew Siaw Hsia (31) got the contractions during the flight from the northern Penanga to Kuching on Borneo. The aircraft changed its course and headed towards the capital, Kuala Lumpur, but the boy was quicker. A doctor, who was on board, helped in baby’s delivery and he was assisted by the flight attendants.
- A baby came into the world at an altitude of 600 meters, while the plane prepared to land in Kuala Lumpur - the company announced in a statement.
- To celebrate this extraordinary event, we decided that the child and its mother will be provided with a lifetime of free flights - director of Air Asie said.
Mother and child were taken to the hospital after the landing and they are both feeling fine.
