Blanken Is Back With Own Fashion Line

After working for a decade for other brands, Christian Blanken decided to launch his own fashion line.

Christian Blanken, a former student of the prestigious Central Saint Martins, lived for ten years in the shadow of designer companies such as DVF, MaxMara and Harvey Nichols. But now he has decided to launch his own line of clothing. His spring/summer 2009 collection will be available via the Internet on his own web site. 

- Fashion is a highly complex and difficult industry and if everything (by which I mean long-term financing, manufacturing and state of mind), aren't in the right place things will generally not work. About 18 months ago I was offered an opportunity and felt it was the right time. So far, the results have borne it out – Blanken told Vogue.

Blanken’s collection shows ultimate femininity. He is not led by specific themes, but is focused on a mix of good shapes and beautiful fabrics to create something beautiful, an idea of a modern classic, as he says.

- The thing I dislike the most about fashion is the fact that something that was valid or significant six months ago can become valueless and obsolete with the arrival of a new season, but that is the nature of fashion; it's fast, and sometimes fickle – he said.
