Fish Reduces Risk of Prostate Cancer

Text

Men who eat dark fish at least once a week are 57 percent less likely to develop aggressive prostate carcinomas.

Fish oils can offer men protection from a potentially aggressive carcinoma of the prostate, suggest the results of a new study, reports Daily Mail.

-.-sxc.hu-.-Scientists have revealed that the intake of Omega 3 fatty acids, which are contained in a large number of fish, can reduce the danger of prostate carcinomas by 60 percent. Omega 3 can stop the harmful actions of the gene that increases the risk of aggressive prostate carcinomas.

Scientists came to these conclusions by comparing the diet of 466 men who were diagnoses with carcinomas with 478 healthy men.

Men who eat dark fish at least once a week have a 57 percent less chance of developing the illness compared to men who do not include fish in their diet. Besides dark fish, Omega 3 fatty acids can be found in mussels, which also reduce the cancer risk.

The research was carried out by experts from the University of California in San Francisco, which was led by professor John Witte, and was fully published in the magazine “Cancer Research”.
