Text

The first international ecological car show in Croatia will be held between May 25 and 26 in Zagreb, organized by the Greenergo association.

ZAGREB, CROATIA - Greenergo, the first international ecological car show in Croatia, will be held on May 25 and 26 in Zagreb. The event is organized by Greenergo and is sponsored by Zagreb’s mayor Milan Bandic, according to a press conference held in Zagreb’s technical museum.

Ecological cars to save the planet

The Greenergo association promotes the development and use of ecologically friendly sources of energy, and the use of ecological vehicles.

“This is the first such show in Croatia and we believe that our event will rise in the number and quality of exhibited cars every year. We are happy that enthusiasts exist – do it yourself builders that have decided to turn their cars into ecologically friendly cars, and some of them will be on display at Zagreb’s main square” said Svemir Vranko, the chief secretary of the Greenergo association.

Svemir lived in Austria for some time, and saw one such ecological car show. He said that if something is not changed in thinking about and using alternative sources of energy, our planet will not survive.

A special guest of this event will be Matthias Koechl, an Austrian expert for electric cars and the president of the Greens from Klagenfurt. Koechl is coming to Croatia in his electric car that he will present the Zagreb’s public with an expert lecture. The world renowned Croatian physicist, and advisor for energy to Barack Obama’s administration, Davor Pavuna, will address those gathered via video.

Igor Juric from the Zagreb company DOK-ING will present the interesting project ‘On the path to the first Croatian electric car’ about a possible series production of electric cars in Croatia.

Cheap and cleaner exploitation of energy

Mario Ćužić-.--.-During two days the event will gather guests and participants from Croatia and Europe with the aim of explaining the need for ecological vehicles to the Croatian public. There will be presentations by Croatian and world manufacturers, showing their newest achievements in ecological technologies for the use of renewable sources of energy. There will be presentations and lectures in the “Europski Dom” building.

The car show will include the projection of the film “Who Killed the Electric Car?” about scraping GM’s EV1 electric car project in the 1990s. There will also be a GREENERGO party, during which there will be performances by the bands “Nas mali Afro Bend” and “Zemljani”. There will also be dance performances by Irja Kren and the dance group “Dyalli”, as well as a show with fire by Aleksandra Milisavljevic.

“Our association has the primary aim of influencing the individual awareness of implementing and using ecologically acceptable sources of energy, and to start a civil initiative to implement legislation and economic reforms that would enable the cheap and clean exploitation and distribution of electric energy, and its implementation in the development of new traffic possibilities” said Luka Rocco, the president of the GREENERGO association.

At the press conference, Svemir Vranko presented the first electric scooter that can travel 80 kilometres with one charge and can travel at 50km/h, or faster if the blockade is removed. It can be bought in Croatia and costs around 8,000 kuna.
