Jean-Paul Gaultier Receives Superstar Award

Designer Jean-Paul Gaultier is the recipient of this year's Superstar Award, presented by Fashion Group International in New York.

Jean-Paul Gaultier, a designer with an unconventional approach, is the recipient of this year’s Superstar Award, presented by Fashion Group International (FGI).   

This year’s Night of Stars dinner and award ceremony with the theme “The Rule Breakers” will take place on October 25 in the elite restaurant Cipriani in New York, writes Vogue.  

Jean-Paul Gaultier embodies the spirit of this year’s event. His rule-breaking philosophy of design has ensured him a unique place in fashion and identified him as a true star, said FGI president Margaret Hayes to WWD.

FGI, a non-profit organization that supports professionals in the fashion industry, has given the Superstar Award to some big names in the course of its 23 years: Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, Tom Ford and Suzy Menkes.   

Jean-Paul Gaultier is a designer who always manages to surprise his audience, whether he does it with bare-breasted corsets or skirts for men, so FGI does not surprise us at all with the choice.
